Re: Group Restructuring - Common control

It is a common control transaction but not a business combination under common control because no party gains control over a business that it didn't already control. Re: Recognition the right to use the software as an intangible asset or expense

Seems like a SaaS solution i.e. an access to the app installed on vendor's infrastructure -> revenue expense rather than an intangible asset: https://ifrscommunity.com/knowledge-bas ... rvice-saas

Re: Debt pricing re-set

@hubertd - I'd say each drawdown is subject to its own amortised cost calculation, independent of other tranches within the same loan facility.

Are these fees treated as separate performance obligations? If they aren't, how do you recognise revenue for the performance obligations that include these fees?

Re: Debt pricing re-set

As I see it, this doesn't constitute a modification since the repricing occurs under the original terms. Technically, you will need to recalculate the amortised cost using the revised cash flows and the original EIR. However, as the interest rates remain unchanged at the consolidation date, there wi...

Re: Reimbursement of leasehold improvements

My question is that should we even be recognizing the asset in the books of the lessee in the first place as for the lack of lessee's control over the leasehold improvement to later reduce it by the reimbursement amount? It's quite common to recognise leasehold improvements as assets by lessees. Fo...

Re: Recognition the right to use the software as an intangible asset or expense

Licences for on-premise use can be recognised as intangible assets by your clients. Conversely, if it's just an access to software on your servers, then it's a revenue expense. See: https://ifrscommunity.com/knowledge-base/recognition-and-cost-of-intangible-assets/#software-as-a-service-saas The dev...

That's why I asked for the business rationale for this decision. It'll help to clarify whether it's an implied impairment loss or a capital contribution.

Re: Waiver of interest on loan to associate

This might also be considered an equity contribution to the associate, in which case the debit entry would be treated as an increase in the investment accounted for under the equity method. What are the economic reasons for waiving the previously agreed interest? Also, if this associate is loss-maki...

Re: Intangible assets (IAS 38)

How do customers access the software? Is it through on-premises installation or via a web browser (SaaS)?

PS. Instead of using generic titles like 'Intangible assets (IAS 38)', please propose a specific title related to your question and I'll update it.

Yeah, my post wasn't clear  Say the ship's owner pays $100 of which the subsidiary receives $90.

Accounting by parent:
Revenue $100
COS $90

Accounting by subsidiary:
Revenue $90
COS [actual costs incurred]

Re: Royalties & sales commissions

It appears the subsidiary is acting as a subcontractor for the parent. It's correct for them to recognise revenue based on the actual amount received. But I'd classify this as revenue earned from the parent and disclose it as related party revenue under IAS 24.
