P&L or P/L?

how do you abbreviate profit or loss? P&L or P/L?
On one hand, there is no 'and' in 'profit or loss', so why use '&'?
On the other hand, it's 'P and L' in the abbreviation...

between accountants, yes PL or IS I'd say.
otherwise 'profit or loss account'
or anything in between.

PnL or P&L gives the correct impression that one is looking at a combined concept

P/L gives the impression of a ratio (like C/I or P/E), which it is not. Not a problem if you know what it means, but good terminology should really explain itself ;)
